Almost two moths ago, I wrote a blog post  about how the whole SEO game is going to change in  the next 18 moths. The change happened a lot faster. Let me share with you what this Penguin is all about.

1. Stop spending money on SEO!

I see a lot of online entrepreneurs spending money on search engine optimization (SEO). That means that they are probably buying backlinks. These are now viewed as low quality. Google does not find this to be natural. They want you to create quality fresh content that your readers will share through different social media. That is how your content will gain value.  The most important social media sharing platform is now Google plus, so make sure you link your stuff on it. This will also create a good user experience and ‘the big G’ is all about that.

2. Over optimized sites will get slapped!

Websites that are over optimized are going to get penalized. Stuffing to many keywords in your content is going to make your website look spammy. This does not provide a lot of value to your visitor neither does it create a good user experience. Ezinearticles have a very good rule about this. Use maximum of two keywords per hundred words and you should be fine. Your website needs to look natural. Panda was all about quality, penguin is all about penalizing over optimized sites.

3.  Get rid of irrelevant stuff on your website.

Relevant and fresh content is not enough. Remove all irrelevant links and ads from your website. Don`t display to many links, because tan your site will not look natural and valuable to the user.

BACK TO THE PRESENT DAY

When I sent you that email, I was a mess. I was unhappy with my business (even though it was making plenty of money). I was miserable in my family life, and I was literally on the brink of dying young.

Seriously. A few months after typing that very email, I went to the doctor for some random tests and so-forth. (I’d been feeling a bit run down for a long time.) Anyway – after some testing, the doctor hit me with a dire warning:

KEEP IT UP AND YOU’RE A DEAD MAN.

Apparently, you can’t party like a rock star from age 15 until age 38 and get away with it. And that’s exactly what I’d been doing. You know how it’s supposedly OK to have 2.5 drinks a day or whatever? Well, I thought that if you just “saved up” all week and had your entire week’s worth of drinks in one night, it would kind of be the same.

Make sense, right? I mean 2.5 drinks a day is around 17 drinks a week. So I’d be “drink free” every day except Saturday and then I’d have my whole “ration” in one day. OK – now that I’m typing that out, I see how utterly moronic it sounds.

Anyway – that’s what I did for 23 straight years …which is why I was literally on the brink of catastrophic liver failure. No kidding! My liver was actually so swollen that the doctor could just poke it with his finger. (Damn, that hurts by the way.) Plus, my blood pressure was so high that it was off the charts. So the doctor gave me the Big Lecture and I actually listened.

Within 6 months, I’d totally cleaned up my act and lost 20 pounds of fat. And fast forward to today and I have an entirely different and significantly happier life. My health is good, my business is good, and I enjoy my family life so much that I closed down my office and only work from home. I even have a new son who just turned 8-weeks old!

Look man, you gotta change what you’re doing. It’s not working. If it was, you’d be thrilled with your progress since my message to you a year ago. But if you’re not, then it’s time to change. Here’s how to do it:

1. Get absolutely focused on what you really want.

Do this by TURNING OFF THE DAMN COMPUTER and just writing down the answer to this question: ”What do I REALLY want?” Screw what the emails tell you you SHOULD want. Screw what your wife, husband, parents, kids, or anyone else WANTS you to want. This is about YOU. What do you really want? Want to sell training plans to cross-dressing MMA competitors? Great. If that’s your thing, go for it. Want to run off and play guitar in coffee shops across South America? Good. You only live once. Be happy. Play ”Freebird” at least once. For me. Thank you.

Whatever you do, get clear. Otherwise you’re ripe for falling into someone else’s agenda.

2. Dump The Crap Out Of Your Brain.

You do this by writing down a huge list of EVERYTHING you THINK gotta do to in order to do what you REALLY want. Just doing that will kind of “clear it from your brain” and free up space in your “mental computer’s” RAM.

3. Decide what’s doable.

You know that big list you just made that’s probably freaking you out? Go through it and put star by all the stuff you can actually do.

4. Decide what you can do NOW.

Now. You know all the stuff with stars by it? The stuff you can actually DO? Go through all of it and find the stuff you can do in the next 30 days. Put two stars by those items.

5. Screw the other stuff.

All the other stuff can be dealt with later. Now – let me address critics in the audience who want to debate whether or not that’s a good strategy. ”Isn’t that procrastination?” ”Isn’t that other stuff important?” The answer to both questions is …PROBABLY! But here’s the deal. You can’t do anything about it right now, and if you worry about it then you’re just taking away focus and energy from the stuff you CAN do. And that’s not going to get you anywhere. Also – actually DO the “immediately doable” things for the next 30 days, my experience tells me that your momentum will be so great you’ll actually be able to easily do a lot of the things from your list you originally thought were impossible for you. You’ll also have new clarity and will probably find that much of the other stuff on the list isn’t even needed.

6. GET TO WORK.

Listen. If you get all caught up on the little details, you’ll be in the same place a year from now. Don’t let that happen.

7. ACCEPT REALITY

You wanna know something? This is NOT going to be easy. Remember how I told you I lost 20 pounds of fat? Man, that first week in the gym was a NIGHTMARE. And to make matters worse, my trainer (who is a terrible person) would make me display my physical weakness in front of GIRLS! So not only was it hard, it was embarrassing! I was failing in public. But that’s what it took so I did it. And in the end, it wasn’t so bad. So if I can muster up the gumption to struggle through my first few push-ups in front of a room full of pretty girls, you can break through you comfort zone too. I’ll leave you with a quote from the wise men of Kool And The Gang:

“GET DOWN ON IT (If you really want it).” You can do it. I believe in you.

Online business is like any other. So to think, you will be an instant millionaire drinking cocktails on the beach, is completely wrong.

I want to share with you 10 biggest mistakes that beginners make when starting an online business. This will give you a clear purpose, vision and goals with a smarter strategy for your business.

1. Mindset. You always have to start with the right mindset. Be ready to fail fast and don`t worry about it. Failing does not make you a bad person. Learn from your mistakes. The more you do it, the better you will be at it. Always have your main goal in mind. Accept 100 % responsibility for every result in your life. Remember, no matter what happens you will be fine.
2. Not taking any action. Doing nothing and thinking that something will just appear is the worst thing you could do. There will always be obstacles and problems but they are not important. I am not saying that you should ignore them, but be happy because problems and obstacles will make you better. The most important thing is the end result and to achieve it you must take action.
3. Buying to many products of programs. This is a mistake that 95 % of people make. If you are a beginner in the online marketing industry, don`t buy every new shiny product on the market. I understand you have to learn all this information, but choose only one product or program and stick with it. If you buy to many, you will get overwhelmed and you won`get anything done.
4. This is a serious business. It has it`s advantages, if you are selling digital products online. Product creation is inexpensive and basic costs are relatively low. You don`t need a warehouse and a big staff, but there are things that you need to figure out. How are you going to handle your company finances? How are you going to pay taxes? What is your business model or a promotional strategy? But don`t worry, you will figure it out sooner or later.
5. Magic Software does not exist. There have been a lot of promotions promising a software that can make you millions with just a few clicks. This is not true. The phenomenon of earning a lot of money with almost no work does not exist.
6. No Website. Some products and programs are telling you that you don`t need a website. This is a misguided advice! You need a website! If you don`t know anything about HTML or web design, create a blog. People and search engines love blogs if they are full of great original content.
7. Not building a list. Without an email list, you are not in business. This is the most important asset you need to have. With an email list, you have potential costumers at the palm of your hand. If you deliver value, you can sell to them multiple times.
8. Focusing on wrong things. All lot of people focus on technology and having the latest software. Technology will make your life or business easier, but should not be your main focus. The most important thing that you should focus on is to have a great product that people want.
9. Technology will not make you a better marketer. If you don`t have a great product and a good marketing strategy, technology is useless. Technology should be at the bottom of your priorities.
10. Not knowing your costumer I saved the biggest mistake for last. Not knowing your average costumer and the market you are trying to sell to, is a recipe for a long-term failure. Always do the market research first and learn what type of people are buyers in that market.

We must not ignore these statistics. Before you start making marketing videos, get to know your target audience. I am going to give you a step by step blueprint for creating your audience`s profile. Take a sheet of paper and answer the questions below.

1.  What is your viewer`s mindset? A better question for you might be whom are you talking to? That depends on the market you are in. What are people thinking in your market, when they want to buy something. Think about their problems, struggles or desires?
2. Voice to viewer. How are you talking to them? When It comes to online video, I recommend you speak to them on a personal level. Don`t be too formal. You want to build a relationship with these people.
3. Message structure. How should you deliver the information? What is your solution to their problems?
4. What online community are they part of? Are they health and fitness nuts, sports fans, gamers, lawyers, couples, web designers, gardeners… Just to name a few.
5. What does a member of a certain online community consider to be important? What opinions do they have? What is their opinion about community they are a part of?
6. What is their language? What kind of terminology are they using? What terms should you learn as a marketer?
7. What is their attitude about the subject? The key part here is the subject you want to engage with them. If your marketing video is about dating advice, you need to know how they fell about that subject.
8. What is the current level of information? Some audiences have a wide rage of knowledge. Then you really need to research what is already available and how do you differ from others. What new things can you teach them in your videos?
9. What are they suspicious about? There are pros and cons to every story, so make sure you deliver that in your video.
10. What encourages them? Here you can show them statistics and results that you got or other people got using the solution you are trying to present to them.
11. What do they love? What makes them passionate about the subject? What are the latest cool things that your audience would find interesting?
12. What do they want? They want results and easy quick solutions that can help them immediately.

Video has become the king of online content. Every big product launch in the last three years used video marketing that worked much better than long written sales letters. You should use video in all your campaigns. But before you do, create a profile of your audience like I just showed you. You will get targeted viewers and quality costumers.

Now you`ve got a profile of your target audience. Next thing you need to do is to create a video that sells and make some money. Online video right now makes the most money.
